Introduction to Oil Training Courses

0

When choosing a career in the oil and gas industry, knowledge is power. Knowing the type of work you want to do will help you select the proper courses that prepare and educate you for the oil and gas field. Whether you choose to work on domestic gas-fired heating appliances or any other field that requires OFTEC certificates, oil training courses are necessary to learn the processes and regulations that dictate work in the oil and gas field.

What is OFTEC?

OFTEC is an acronym for the Oil Fired Technician Association and it is an organization that certifies and recognizes those that are educated and competent in the field of oil-fired heating systems. The installation and maintenance of oil, solid, and renewable heating systems all fall under this “competent persons scheme” which works to standardize processes and regulations for the industry. Companies must also have proper insurance and registrations to be considered an OFTEC-registered business.

Oil Training Courses

Phil from Gastec says “There are many courses available to give you the full scope of the knowledge needed to begin and continue your career in oil and gas.” Practical knowledge and on-the-job training are an invaluable part of this process and must be completed in conjunction with your formal education.

OFTEC 50 Oil-fired Introductory Course

This course is designed for those who want to be part of the gas-fired oil industry but have little to no practical experience, as there are no work experience or knowledge entry requirements to enroll in the program. This course covers everything, including the relevant work experience, to cover the basics of gas-fired installations and how to work on purpose-built heating rigs and live equipment that is running in a fully functioning plant room.

After finishing this course, you will have the knowledge and skill to successfully complete any of the following assessments.

** It is important to note that before taking a OFTEC assessment, you will need to obtain work experience with an OFTEC-registered business to provide an auditable extended work programme.

OFT101 – Single Stage Pressure Jet Servicing and Commissioning

OFT102  – Servicing and Commissioning of Vaporising Fired Domestic Fixed Combustion Appliances

OFT105E – Installation of Oil and Bio-liquid Fuelled Fixed Combustion Appliances and Systems

OFT600A – Installation of Oil Fuel Storage and Supply Systems Connected to Fixed Combustion

OFT201 – Service & Commissioning of Oil & Bio Liquid Multi-Stage Pressure Jet Burner Fired Commercial Appliances

Continuing Education

The oil and gas field has endless opportunities for growth and learning as the field continues to become more broad and diverse. Oil training and education involving oil storage, oil heating, and anything else related to oil-fired appliances will continue to evolve as the industry develops. New courses and assessments will be developed to guarantee that the next generation of oil and gas workers are extensively trained and properly educated, guaranteeing the safety and comfort of all of those who depend on gas-fired appliances.
